How A Furling Sock Works: A Furling Sock covers your head sail completely and protects it from the sun better than any other method. We use a sock on our boat because it is easy to use, protects the sail completely, and doesn’t degrade the sail shape. The sock is a very simple design and is installed in less than 10 minutes. Since you have a roller furler, you already have an extra jib halyard that is not being used. Connect the halyard to the top of the sock and begin to zipper as you hoist the sock upward over the sail. Continue to hoist until the sock can not be pulled any more and has reached the top of the sail. Tie off and cleat. DONE!
